Information Risk Management Program

The goal of the Information Risk Management Program (IRMP) is to ensure that risks to the Faculty and the University, arising from mis-handling or mis-identification of information, are managed as an integral component of information solutions throughout their lifecycle, and in full accordance with the policies and guidelines of the University.

The Discovery Commons Service Desk provides limited support to the Faculty of Medicine for the University of Toronto system login (UTORid).

HR Reporting System (FOCUS)

Short description

FOCUS is a full-featured HR reporting and relationship management tool for the Faculty of Medicine that provides units one place to track and manage demographic data about faculty members. Managed by the Faculty’s Human Resources office, FOCUS was developed and is supported by the Discovery Commons specifically to meet the needs of the Faculty of Medicine.

Virtual Server Hosting

Short description

For Faculty of Medicine clients who need a server on which to host a website or web application, the University’s Information and Technology Services (ITS) group provides access to the same secure infrastructure used by Discovery Commons to host the sites and systems we manage.

Web Application Vulnerability Scanning

Short description

Discovery Commons performs proactive online vulnerability scanning on websites and web applications that contain confidential and (in particular) protected data (such as personal information, or PI), to ensure that all known vulnerabilities have been addressed, and that all reasonable security controls are in place.

Website Development and Hosting (WebPac)

Short description

WebPac is a service of the Faculty of Medicine that provides well-designed, inexpensive and securely managed websites for units within the Faculty of Medicine.
