Computer Hardware Purchasing
To help departments and programs with the purchasing of computer hardware and software, we will provide the following services:
- Place the order with the manufacturer on behalf of the user or department
- Handle the hardware and software (receiving, unpacking)
- Image the desktop or laptop with Faculty’s standard operating system
- Add desktop or laptop to Active Directory and transfer data (if requested)
- Activate mobile devices (iOS, Blackberry, or Android) on Faculty’s network & Exchange
Computer Software Purchasing (LSO)
The purchasing of licensed software at the University of Toronto is through the Licensed Software Office (the LSO) at the Information Commons.

Website Development and Hosting (WebPac)
WebPac is a service of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine that provides well-designed, inexpensive and securely managed websites for units within the Faculty. Each site is compatible with mobile devices and ensures content can be easily managed. WebPac includes communications support, technical development, training, hosting and maintenance. The service is offered jointly by the Office of Communications and MedIT.

Classroom Technology Support – On Demand
MedIT provides general AV support to presenters in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine when they are using our facilities and classrooms, as well as when using other rooms in MSB for curriculum events. This is done on an ad hoc basis but can also be scheduled in advance. Our team can help set up a presenter’s laptop for presentation, set up the projector(s), turn on the microphone, and assist with logging into the teaching station.

Wireless Networking / WiFi (UTORcwn)
Wireless access to the university's online resources is widely available across the University of Toronto tri-campus area. The primary wireless network is listed as "UofT". This network provides wireless access to faculty, staff, students, and sponsored guests and is authenticated using UTORid. UofT also offers an Eduroam service for visiting academics from other universities, who can connect to the UofT network using their home university credentials.
